Public Safety Committee #01
Oct 4, 2021
DECISIONS AND ISSUES
- Two numbered entries PSC21-01/02 are agenda and adjournment only. No substantive motion adopted the discussion suggestions. The committee met from 3:00 to 4:56 p.m.; approval was recorded February 1, 2022.
- Following September 14 taxi concerns, Bell reported accompanying the RCMP to six homes and speaking with parents. He reported an initial pause in rock throwing followed by renewed incidents. This documents the reported follow-up and continuing problem, not independently verified resolution.
- Beach-area safety, lighting, addictions, homelessness and shelters were discussed. A facilitator and future Public Safety Plan were proposed, with later agenda follow-up. Suggestions for cameras, taxi changes, youth programs and a safe-consumption space are not Council approvals.
- Terms of reference were left for review and a later recommendation. Animal-control discussion described free registration and seven-day impounding following September Council decisions. No unnecessary request for Council attendance on this mixed committee is queued.
